Con Air

How have I never seen Con Air? There are so many actors in this movie that I enjoy watching, John Malkovich, the late Ving Rhames, Dave Chappelle, John Cusack. 
For those who also missed this classic, it’s a typical 90s action film. Lots of CGI, explosions and death defying stunts. Nicolas Cage, who is clearly not a critically acclaimed actor, has a horrible accent and his wig is problematic. Also, the character development lacked any depth and was forced on kind of quickly, so it was hard to really feel for main characters. Overall though it was still fun to watch but not something that I would own.  

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

I have been told by a number of co-workers that I need to watch the National Lampoon franchise. I am a fan of some of John Hughes’ classics like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink, so I decided to give Christmas Vacation a shot. 
For me, this late 80s comedy is one that just doesn’t hold up. It’s a slapstick, physical comedy that in many senses is very childish and not well thought out. I think anyone seeing it for the first time will feel like it just doesn’t resonate. Perhaps if I watched it for the first time 20+ years ago I might have a better appreciation for it.

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising

I rented Neighbors 2 because I really liked the first one. The plot was essentially the same as the original with some slight changes. 

Still raunchy, sometimes taken a little too far for the laugh, but overall, an enjoyable comedy with some heart. 

There’s definitely not a lot of thought needed with this movie so if you are looking to just sit back and laugh, this might be the one for you. 

Point Break (2015)

I watched the remake of Point Break and was pleasantly surprised. I personally thought that it was better than the 1991 original. 
Even though the plot was almost an exact replica of the original and there was a lack of strong character development for some of the supporting characters, I still enjoyed it. 
I thought that the acting was a lot better in the re-make and I thought that the athletics and the stunts outdid the original. If you enjoyed the original, I’d definitely recommend renting this one.
